June 2025 Principal’s Message

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, I want to begin by extending a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made our graduation ceremony such a special and memorable event. From the decorating teams to the staff organizers, volunteers, student performers, and supportive families, your contributions created a beautiful celebration for our graduates. It was truly an evening to remember, and I couldn’t be prouder of the accomplishments we witnessed and the community that came together to make it all happen.

As we approach summer break, I want to thank all of you—students, staff, and families—for an incredible year of growth, learning, and community. I encourage you to keep that momentum going over the summer by getting involved in the summer library reading program and setting aside at least 20 minutes a day for reading. Even small, consistent efforts can make a big difference in preventing the “summer slide” and ensuring your child continues building on the progress they've made. We’ve worked hard together this year—let’s keep that effort strong!

June is a busy and exciting month filled with activities, field trips, exams, and special events. Here are just a few highlights:

  • Track and Field events are in full swing, with our grades 4-6 students who qualified for divisionals will compete in Raymond, and the junior high athletes who qualified for zones will be in Medicine Hat.  Both these track and field meets are on June 3. Best of luck to all our competitors!

  • Our youngest students are also getting in on the fun with the Grade 1–3 Track and Field Day on June 5—thank you to our helpful Grade 8 volunteers!

  • Field trips abound: from Michelson Farmstead to Writing-on-Stone, Fort McLeod to Calaway Park. These fun and rich learning experiences are only possible thanks to the dedication of our teachers, support staff, and parent volunteers. I also wanted to thank our dedicated and hard-working parent council for donating field trip money so that you, as parents, do not have to pay for your child this year to go on any of these field trips.

  • Kindergarten will celebrate their graduation on June 11 at 6:30 PM in the theatre—we look forward to honouring this special milestone.
  • High School Athletic Assembly: all students from grades 7-12 are invited to attend. It will be held in the theatre starting at 1:20.
  • Final exams for grades 6–12 are throughout most of this month. Please ensure students are well-rested and prepared during this time.

  • On June 20, we will recognize the hard work of our junior high students at the Honour Roll Assembly.

  • The last day of school is Wednesday, June 25, with early dismissal at noon.

Thank you for your continued support, resilience, and partnership in learning. Our school is better because of each one of you. Wishing you a summer filled with joy, rest, and great stories!
