December Principal’s Message

Christmas Holidays will start December 22 at noon and school will start again at 8:10 am on January 8, 2024. As we embrace the holiday season, let's remember the importance of kindness, empathy, and community. Whether it's through small acts of generosity or thoughtful gestures, let us spread joy and goodwill to those around us.

I am immensely proud of the dedication shown by our educators, staff, and parents throughout the year. Your unwavering support has created a nurturing environment where our students thrive academically and personally. Thank you.

Congratulations to all volleyball teams.  All teams grew a lot over the course of the season and I am so proud of all student-athletes who exemplified great sportsmanship and were great ambassadors for this fast growing sport in our school.  Thank you to the coaching staff for the countless volunteer hours you put into practices, games and tournaments to have the student-athletes gain in skill level and confidence.

Mr. Drew Walters and his coaching staff put on an impressive display when we hosted a Tri Wrestling meet earlier in November.  The stands were full of enthusiastic fans and the wrestlers showcased their wrestling prowess. The wrestling program has grown tremendously over the last couple of years in large part due to the fantastic coaching staff. The team is looking forward to six tournaments between now and the end of March.  Good luck wrestlers.

Under the direction of Mrs. Wehlage and Mrs. Merrills, a cast of elementary students are working hard in preparation for the Christmas Concert.  We will have a dress rehearsal matinee for our grade 7-12 students on December 19th.  Families will receive 3 matinee and 3 evening performance spots for either December 20th or the 21st.  If you are NOT using your spots, please notify the school so others can attend. A link will be sent to you to reserve your spots.

Basketball season has started, and students and fans look forward to playing and watching games.  As much as we love seeing everyone and encourage everyone to come to support our student-athletes, we are NOT a babysitting service.  Staff are volunteering their time so that we can host games; please be kind.  Elementary students, grades 5 and down, need to come to games with a parent(s).  We ask you to keep your little ones in the gym sitting beside you and off the court, not running all over the place. We will send students home if they are alone or do not listen to the supervisors.  League games are free, but you need to pay to attend tournaments we host.  Thank you for your cooperation.

If you have not done so, we ask that you please pay your resource fees ASAP or make arrangements at the school office. We accept cash, debit, or e-transfers for all fees. You may use the following email address for all e-transfers:  ssfees@westwind.ab.ca. Thank you!

Hot lunch order forms will be available online at stirlingschool.ca, and/or there will be a few available at the school office.

Parent-Council meeting will be held on January 25th at 2:15 pm in the school staff room.
