October 2024 Principal’s Message

In so many ways we have had a great start to the school year. Thank you to the Village of Stirling for keeping the pool open for our first week of school.  It was a nice gentle way to get back into a routine for students and yet have some fun at the same time at the pool.

Last week as an admin team we had to deal with things that saddened all of us. We are deeply committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students. To maintain this, we rely on the support and partnership of our families in teaching essential values. Racism, homophobic comments, or any form of bullying have no place in our school and will not be tolerated.

We ask that you take time to speak with your child(ren) about the importance of kindness, acceptance, and standing against hate. Your involvement plays a crucial role in shaping their attitudes and actions, ensuring they contribute positively to our school community. Together, we can foster a culture of respect and empathy, where every student feels valued and safe.

If your child stays at school for lunch, they will be expected to follow the established rules. Failure to do so may result in them losing the privilege to remain at school during lunchtime.

Again this year, students will not participate in field trips, athletics, or off-campus events until the parents complete the "Risk Acknowledgement" form, which will be sent to you before the event or tryouts.  No phone permission or a signed note can be accepted as giving your child permission to participate. The form(s) are necessary for insurance purposes and to keep you informed.  Thanks for your cooperation.

We ask that you please pay your resource fees ASAP or make arrangements at the school office. We accept cash, debit or e-transfers for all fees. You may use the following email address for all e-transfers:  ssfees@westwind.ab.ca. Thank you!

Hot lunch order forms will be available online at stirlingschool.ca and/or there will be a few available at the school office. November’s hot lunch order form is due October 24th. The parent council is always looking to have more parents assist with hot lunches; please contact any of the members of the Parent Council if you are interested.
