I hope all of you had a fun and relaxing Spring Break. I’ve heard of fun trips all over North America coming from our staff and students. It makes me smile to listen to our students share their “tales of adventure” as they enjoy new and exciting life events!
One of the exciting events that happens with our school every couple of years is the “School and Community” musical happening next week! School of Rock will be performed nightly starting on Wednesday, May 3rd at 7:00 pm. Performances run nightly through Saturday.
There is also an afternoon performance on Saturday, May 6 at 3:00 pm. Please contact Kathy or Lana in the office to purchase your assigned seats. There may also be limited tickets at the door for each specific performance. Thanks to Tracy Selk, Mandy Nilsson, Rena Proctor and all our
students for their time and efforts in preparing for this fun school musical! Can’t wait to see the final finished product!
We have our district badminton play downs on Wednesday, April 26th. Our junior and senior high students have been working hard on their game under the tutelage of Mr. Lutz and Mrs. Sheen. Good luck badminton players!
On Wednesday, May 3 we will be showing our support for “Mental Health Week” by wearing hats. All staff and students are encouraged to come to school wearing their favourite hat in class as a show of support for individuals and families dealing with mental health issues.
Our school modernization is starting to show the results of all their hours of work. We’ve had a new concrete brick wall put up in our old gym to fill in the hole where the stage once was. They are standing beams and trusses in the new student gathering area and they have set piles for the walls of our new gym. Lots happening! It’s starting to take shape! I’ve also included drawings for our new theatre in our re-
I’ve decided to include a website I’ve had saved for quite a while. It’s focussed on teens and the use of their cell phone. I’ve favoured this one for the direct, simple language, and intended message by the author to show the expected use and responsibility of owning and using a cell phone. As principal, I’ve dealt with too many issues around digital irresponsibility and inappropriate use of technology. As a result of the time I’m spending dealing with kids and their cell phones, I’m assuming that some of our families are having the same issues within the walls of their home. For parents of three and four year olds, please read the information on the snapshot below connected to early childhood developmental screening. This data helps schools help families with early childhood issues and resulting program planning and potential PUF funding. If you have any questions, please call Sandi Letioa at the number listed on the picture below.
A reminder about our school council meeting this coming Thursday in Ms. Pot’s room (April 27, downstairs in the new Lion’s Hall) at 8:00 pm.
Thanks to all the efforts of our staff, students, and community volunteers for all the work and time you put into the various connected roles with our school. I really appreciate all you do.
Take care and talk with you soon.
