November 2022 Principal’s Message

In a couple of weeks, our high school students and parents will be receiving the first report card for this school year. On November 23, you will have an opportunity to meet with teachers about your child’s progress at our semi-annual parent-teacher conference. This will be from 3:00-6:30 p.m. Sign-up links will be sent out to you soon. We will still offer the face-to-face conference or via Google Meet -- whatever works best for your schedule.
At the beginning of December, our K to Gr. 9 report cards will be sent out via email. This will be a first for our K-3 students/parents using PowerSchool for our reporting. With the implementation of a new curriculum, our division has moved to a common outcomes-based report card for K-6. This will be new for all of us and it will take some getting used to. If you have any questions regarding the format of the report card, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
We will be holding our awards assembly Monday November 7th at 10:45 a.m. in the theatre. Speaking of our awards assembly, it is with great sadness that I received an email from Damon Brandley stating that his father Reinard Brandley had passed away on August 30th of this year at the age of 99. Mr. Brandley has been a great supporter of our largest scholarship awarded to the top grad from the previous school year. His family will continue to support this award, for which we are grateful.
Have you ever thought about getting a bus license at no cost other than time? Westwind school division is in the process of setting up a driving school so that they can offer the M.E.L.T. and S-Endorsement certifications needed for someone to drive a bus. Contact the school if you are interested. We are often in need of additional drivers for field trips and other co/extracurricular events.
Volunteers are welcome as long as you have the necessary paperwork handed in at the office (Vulnerable Sector Check). If you live in Stirling you can receive this paperwork from the Raymond RCMP office.
If you have not done so already, we ask that you please pay your resource fees ASAP or make arrangements at the school office. We accept cash, debit, or e-transfers for all fees. You may use the following email address for all e-transfers: ssfees@westwind.ab.ca. Thank you!
Hot lunch order forms will be available online at stirlingschool.ca and/or there will be a few available at the school office. The parent council is always looking to have more parents assist with hot lunches; please contact Jessica Seely @ 403-593-9432, if you are interested.
Parent-Council meeting will be held November 24th at 7 pm in the school staff room.
