November 2019 Principal’s Message

Parents, do not miss the amazing opportunity to see Collin Kartchner in Magrath on November 13th at the High School gymnasium. He has presented to hundreds of thousands of youths and adults about the harmful effects that social media and screen addiction can have on mental and emotional health. Please see the write up on the Stirling School and Westwind websites for more information. The students will be attending a presentation on November 14th but we encourage all parents to attend the parent-evening at 7 pm on November 13th. You do not want to miss this!

As a friendly reminder, we ask you to please send your children with clothing and footwear that are appropriate for the weather. Students in grades 1-5 will continue to go outside for recess and lunch as this helps them focus on their learning when they come back into the building.

Mrs. Marla Merrillls is applying for a substantial music grant. Parent support letters would be greatly appreciated to help with the application. Please forward your letters to by November 12th.

High School report cards will be coming home on November 15th with parent-teacher interviews to follow on November 21st. Please watch for sign up information to follow. The elementary/junior high report cards will be sent out on November 29th. This is after the parent-teacher interviews. With our high school on a semester system, it is important for marks to come out mid-way through the reporting period, however, this is very early for elementary/jr high report cards which are sent out three times per year instead of four. We are giving this a try this year to see if this works for a better balance. We still want to have a parent-teacher night on the same evening.

In the elementary, the nutrition grant is providing breakfast in the morning for those who need to eat. We ask those students to come in early, at 8 am, to eat if they need it. We will be shutting breakfast down when the bell rings to bring in the rest of the students. Please encourage your child/children to only participate in breakfast if they need it.

If you still need to pay your resource fees, we accept cash, debit and E-transfers. Thank you.

All visitors please check-in at the office. We want to keep all of our students safe and appreciate your assistance with this simple but important procedure.

All school news will be posted on our website Look for “Love and Logic” articles to help all parents under the parent tab.

Hot lunch order forms will be available online at or there will be a few available at the school office. December’s hot lunch order form is due November 27th
