March 2020 Principal’s Message

As the days slowly become longer and the sun feels warmer, I know that spring is just around the corner. Students and staff are all looking forward to being able to go outside without coats and boots, we just have to hang in there just a little bit longer. This past week we had Mr. Moses Spearchief come in and share his knowledge of smudging and sharing circle with the elementary students. Some even had the opportunity to participate. We have some of those pictures on our website under “about us” in the photo section. We appreciated Mr. Spearchief coming to our school.

Nine of our senior boys participated in the Rural Zones for wrestling at LCI this past weekend, Kyle Thompson, Levi Myers, Matthew Nelson and Kaden Seely will be going to provincials in two weeks. Thank you to Drew Walters and Jim Seely for being the masterminds behind getting this program off the ground. I know there were many more involved from assisting these men in coaching (Grant Stevenson, Kyle Nixon, Megan Gemmill), fundraising, making donations, driving students to and from tournaments and/or supporting them through ups and downs. We have had a fantastic inaugural year for wrestling. As I see some of our coaches and senior wrestlers working with our elementary students, I can say without hesitation that we will have an amazing program for many more years to come.

All of our basketball teams are having and have had great seasons. These teams would not be able to coach themselves and therefore I want to say thank you to Donna Branch, Stephanie Michelson, Chris Clawson, Mason Barton, Chris Steed, Brady Adamson, Jeff Nelson, Jaime Clawson, Geneil Oviatt, Patty Nelson, Jack McMurray and Steve Evanson for sharing their knowledge and passion with our student-athletes.

Our boys will be playing their 3A zones in Medicine Hat March 13-14th, with this change, we need some help covering our obligation with supervising and taking cash at the college for our 1A and 2A Zones. If you can help out in any way, please contact Lana at the school office at 403-756-3355. Thank you.

The division has been working hard this year to have the Online Registration for NEW STUDENTS and RETURNING STUDENTS begin for everyone at the same time.
